CANADA SUMMER CAMP 2021
Bodwell’s University Summer Programs (BUSP) is one of the biggest and longest-running summer English programs in British Columbia. Since 1992, BUSP is an experience that participants come back for year after year.
BUSP is associated with Bodwell High School, a private, co-educational, university preparatory, boarding school, located in North Vancouver, BC.
The strength of Bodwell High School’s international education program has infused its summer program with the resources and vision required to provide an education focused on love and care.
This experience is open to students within the ages of Ten (10) to seventeen (17). The summer tour is scheduled to take place from 19th July to 15th August 2020, in British Columbia, Canada. The fee for the program is $4500-$8300 CAD ( The price and duration of the program are dependent on the tour package selected).
Bodwell’s university summer programs (BUSP) are hosted by three different universities and one high school around British Columbia, each with its own unique perspective on the British Columbian Experience. From an exciting urban setting to a rugged backdrop of mountains, these institutions offer every student an experience that is sure to engage, excite and entertain.
This exciting summer programs will occur in 4 different locations across British Columbia, each applicant has the opportunity of picking the location they want to explore. These locations are listed below and they come with different price ranges, start dates, and duration.

Plumville International Limited (hereafter referred to as “Plumville”), is one of Nigeria’s foremost international travel agency. And as we are Bodwell’s authorized representative/agent, we feel incredibly excited to offer this summer tour to Nigerian secondary and post-secondary students.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE BODWELL UNIVERSITY SUMMER CAMP IN CANADA?
•Secondary & post-secondary school students (both male and female) from 10 to 17 years of age, who want to fully experience Canadian culture.
•Students who want to experience the North American interactive teaching style.
•Young people who love outdoors and want hands-on experience.
• Intermediate level English speakers or higher
PROGRAM GOALS
⦁ To provide a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
⦁ To teach English in interesting and effective ways, improving students’ conversation, comprehension, public speaking, and writing skills.
⦁ To bring students into different Canadian contexts: academic, geographical, historical, social and cultural, to stimulate learning and create unforgettable experiences.
⦁ To develop an appreciation for nature, art, and diversity, and in the process, encourage expression, compassion, creativity and collaborative spirit.
⦁ To develop students’ self-confidence, interpersonal skills, and leadership potential.
ACTIVITIES
Groups participate in hiking, canoeing, visiting famous attractions, exploring museums, and shopping, to name a few. Afterward, groups participate in games and activities that develop trust and strengthens friendships. Examples of activities are science experiments, art projects, yoga classes, soccer drills, and tennis lessons. Many activities offer training from instructors in the related field for additional learning.
Teachers work with their students to strengthen their English skills during all activities. They encourage students to speak in English at all times, as well as to make friends from other countries!
COST IMPLICATION / FEE DETAILS
The Bodwell University Summer Camp Fee is $4,500 -$8,300 CAD (Canadian Dollars), i.e. approximately N1,350,000 – N2,490,000 (Nigerian Naira). This fee covers the following:

• University Accommodation (from the Sunday program arrival date to Saturday program departure date)*
• Meals (3 per day)
• Medical Insurance (for the program duration)
• Transportation (airport transfers both ways, to all outings)
• English Classes, Activities, Events & Outings
• Report Card, Certificate of Completion, Program T-Shirt* Additional days will be charged at $200 per day, if available. Includes additional outing - Visa Application/Processing Fee.
The Tour Fee Excludes:
- Flight to/from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
• Chaperone Charges - Cash Damage Deposit of $200 (refundable)*
• Personal Spending Money
* Collected upon arrival to the program and returned upon departure if no damage has occurred.
REFUND POLICY
CANCELLATIONS
A $200 non-refundable registration fee is included in all program fees and will be deducted before any refunds are issued. All cancellations require written notice submitted to Bodwell as per the schedule below. No fees will be refunded after June 30.

Applicants Requiring a Visa: In order to be eligible for a refund for a declined or delayed visa, a rejection letter from the applicable Visa Office for declined visas or written notice that a visa has not yet been received for delayed visas, must be submitted to Bodwell. All refunds for declined or delayed visa cancellations received on and within 14 days of the program start date are subject to a $300 administration fee surcharge in addition to the $200 non-refundable registration fee.
PROGRAM CHANGES
Requests to change programs on and within 14 days of the initial program start date are subject to a $200 administration fee surcharge in addition to the difference in program fees for the new program. Payment must be made 24 hours of an approved change.
A DAY AT BODWELL
The daily schedule for a Summer student
On Wednesdays, a special on-campus event will take place. These events showcase the talents of our students, give them an opportunity to learn more about each other and are always unforgettable! On Fridays, there are English classes in the mornings followed by an outing in the afternoon and evening. On Saturdays and Sundays, outings will occur for most of the day. There will also be team-building games and activities every evening!

After payment is received by Bodwell, a confirmation letter and receipt of payment will be provided to the parent/guardian/student by Bodwell.
3. Pay Visa Fees to Plumville / the Canadian High Commission / VFS. (Total visa fees is between N130,000 to N156,000 depending on the age of the student and subject to the prevailing Nigerian Naira to Canadian dollar official FX rate on the payment date ).
Then, the student is fully confirmed for the 2020 Bodwell University Summer Program.
*Flight/Air Ticket cost & chaperone charges will be communicated to parents/guardians approximately one (1) month to the tour date.

Q: Why the price range of $4,500 – $8300 CAD ?
A: This exciting summer programs will occur in 4 different locations across British Columbia, each applicant has the opportunity of picking the location they want to explore. These locations are listed clearly and they come with a different price range, start dates, and duration.
Q: Is the $4,500 – $8300 CAD tour fee all-inclusive?
A: No. The tour fee does not include the cost for visa processing, air/flight ticket to Canada, & chaperone charges.

Q: What is the Naira equivalent of $4,500 – $8300 CAD?
A: The Naira equivalent is approximately N1,350,000 – N2,490,000 (Nigerian Naira). Keep in mind that the Naira amount may increase or decrease due to the volatility of the foreign exchange (FX) rate in Nigeria. The EXCHANGE RATE used as at the date of this write-up is N300 to C$1.
Q: I am a university/polytechnic student aged 17 years & below, can I participate in this summer program?
A: Yes. As long as you are a current student at any secondary or post-secondary educational institution, and you are aged 11-17 years, you are eligible to participate in this program.
Q: How do I wire payment for the tour/camp fee of $4,500 – $8300 CAD, directly to BUSP Canada?
A: This can easily be done by obtaining a ‘Form A’ from any Nigerian Bank, & informing them that you want to wire payment for educational fees to a Canadian educational institution.

Q: Will Plumville help my child/ward get their Canadian tourist visa, to enable them to participate in the Bodwell University Summer Program?
A: Yes. Plumville will procure visas and handle local logistics for students & any parent/guardian who wish to accompany. We will provide counsel, guidance, and support for the entire visa application process. Our travel consultants are competent with vast experience in handling visa applications.
Q: Can my child/ward visa application be refused? or is the visa automatic?
A: According to Canadian law, it is a criminal offense for any consultant to state that a visa is guaranteed. However, based on our expertise, your child/ward will have a 99% chance of securing their visa to Canada.
Q: If my child’s visa application is refused, what happens to the $4,500-$8300 that I wired to Bodwell?
A: In a case where your child/ward’s visa is refused by the Canadian High Commission, Bodwell will refund the summer camp/tour fees, less $200 CAD administrative fee.
Q: What will be the duration of the visa that my child/ward will be issued?
A: It is at the discretion of the Canadian visa officer to determine the duration of the Canadian visa that will be issued. However, based on our prior experiences, your child/ward may be issued a visa with a validity of between 6 months to 5 years (subject to the expiry date of their international passport).
Q: What are the documents that will be required for the visa application?
A: The primary supporting documents required for your child’s Canada visitors/tourist visa application are:
- International passport of the student (The passport must have a minimum of 2 blank visa pages & a minimum of 6 months validity).
•Proof that your child/ward is currently a student (i.e. an official document confirming registration as a student at an academic institution in Nigeria).
•Proof of funds: Parents/guardians must submit evidence of sufficient funds to cover the student’s cost for the air/flight ticket & personal spending money for the program duration. Evidence includes 3 months bank statement (for personal account) or 6 months bank statement (if the business account is provided).
*A complete list of the visa application documents will be provided to parents/wards once the student is fully confirmed for the tour.
Q: How will my child/ward travel to Canada?
A: Students for the Bodwell summer camp will travel as a group. They will be accompanied by an adult (chaperone) from Nigeria, who is conversant with Canada.
Q: I will like to handle the travel arrangement for my child/ward. Is it possible?
A: We strongly recommend that students travel as a group with Plumville’s chaperone. However, if you will rather handle the travel arrangement for your child/ward, kindly let us know.
Q: How will parents/guardians know that their children arrived safely in Canada?
A: Plumville’s chaperone will notify parents/guardians immediately they arrive in Canada. Also, BUSP will notify parents via email on the day their child arrives safely in Canada.
Q: How will students keep their money and valuables safe?
A: Parents can give Plumville’s chaperone money/valuables to keep for their children. Furthermore, a locked safe in the BUSP’s office will be available for students to keep valuables if required. It should be noted that students will be provided with their personal on-site accommodation, & it is constantly advised to students that they lock their dorm doors at all times.
Q: Who keeps the student’s airline ticket & int’l passport?
A: Plumville’s accompanying chaperone keeps the student’s airline ticket & international passport. Then, upon arrival in Canada, the chaperone submits their ticket & passport to BUSP’s staff for it to be kept in a locked safe.
Q: How much money should students bring to Canada for the program?
A: If students are not planning to make large purchases, $50-$75 CAD per week should be sufficient for personal spending money. Additional cash for emergencies may also be brought.
Q: What happens is a student becomes ill or gets hurt?
A: BUSP arranges medical/health insurance for all students for the program duration. In case of sickness, injury, or emergency, BUSP staff will accompany the student to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention. It should be noted that Canada has one of the best healthcare in the world.
Q: How is security organized at the residence/accommodation facility?
A: All students stay at BUSP’s dormitories that are supervised by BUSP’s faculty & staff. Only authorized personnel & students are given keys to the on-site residence. Security personnel patrol BUSP’s facility at night.
Q: How do students do their laundry?
A: BUSP’s staff are provided with laundry cards that operate the laundry/washing machines in the dormitories. Students will be provided with laundry detergent & assisted by BUSP’s staff in doing their laundry on a regular basis.
Q: What personal living items will be provided for students by BUSP?
A: BUSP will provide students with bedding & linens for their dormitory room that will be cleaned regularly. All students are expected to bring their own towels & toiletries (see packing list below). In the event that an item is lost or forgotten, BUSP staff can help students purchase such an item during their outings.
Q: What items should my child pack for the trip (i.e. Packing List)?
A: Recommended parking list:
•Pens, pencils, notebooks.
•All personal hygiene items (e.g. toothpaste, soap, towels, etc.).
•Casual clothes & dress clothes for the banquet.
•Swimming suit.
•Jacket for cool evenings.
•Athletic shoes.
•Money for personal items & souvenirs.
•Alarm clock.
•Water bottle.
•Sunglasses & sunscreen.
Q: How can parents contact their children during the program?
A: Parents can contact their child through Plumville’s accompanying chaperone via phone, email, or social media (e.g.instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.).
An alternative option is for the parent to contact the BUSP office and leave a message for their child. BUSP staff will deliver the message to the student during a break period in the program.
Q: How can students call home?
A: Plumville’s accompanying chaperone will have a Canadian phone number. Hence, students may use the chaperone’s phone to call home.
Alternatively, BUSP staff can help students call home during free time, by using one of the phones available in the lounges or a payphone on campus. A long-distance calling card may be required for students to call home, & these cards can be purchased for ~$6 CAD.
